How to create the perfect poolside experience

June 14, 2019

As temperatures heat up, you know the pool is the place to be. Equipping your indoor or outdoor pool area with quality towels will ensure that guests have a great experience, whether they’re lying on a lounge chair or drying off after a morning swim.

The power of the Fibertone™ process

It may be tempting to stay away from colored or designed towels because of their tendency to fade, but with ultra-durable Fibertone™ Towels by 1888 Mills®, you don’t have to worry about washed-out fabrics. Fibertone, a patented color technology, is a revolutionary process that produces stable colors that don’t fade or bleed. What’s more, their color holds up to harsh chemicals and sunlight, making them the ideal poolside companion.

Comfort is key

While color-stay power is important, guests truly appreciate a comfortable, absorbent towel post-swim. Fibertone Towels are made from a ring-spun cotton blend, which combines ultimate softness with maximum absorbency and wear, so guests can wrap up in a cozy towel after a long day at the pool.

Choose style and substance

Fibertone Towels come in a range of patterns and colors, from Seafoam Stripe to Sandstone. This way, you can match your pool towels to your décor and create a cohesive setting. They are also available in different dimensions – 24″ x 48″, 24″ x 50″, 24″ x 52″, 24″ x 54″, 30″ x 60″, 30″ x 70″, 35″ x 70″, and 36″ x 70″ – to suit any size need.

A selection of Fibertone Towels are on sale thru June 23, making them good for your guests, and your bottom line. Stock up now and save on these swimming essentials.

Hotel 101: When choosing sheets and towels, go sustainable

April 24, 2018

Sure, a fancy lobby, extensive room service menu and breathtaking views make a great first impression for guests, but what really makes them ooh-and-ahh? We’ll give you a hint, it has everything to do with the sheets and towels. Guests want to feel like they’re sleeping in silk, or washing their face with a cloud, and the best way to do that is to know exactly what to look for when it comes to choosing towels and sheets. Luckily the choice is easy with the environmentally friendly Martex Green Collection from WestPoint Hospitality.

Organic cotton towels

What really matters when you’re buying towels for your property? Well, Martex answers all of those questions for you by focusing on important elements you might not have even considered – like eco-friendly materials and company sustainability.

  • This towel collection is made from all certified organic cotton and recycled polyester. The agricultural product used with the cotton does not involve the use of harmful chemicals and the production reduces pesticides pollution compared to conventional farming techniques.
  • It focuses on eco-friendly materials by using recycled plastic bottles and strips of labels and caps, which are crushed, cleaned and turned into fibers.
  • The unique Dryfast® technology of Martex’s towels reduces drying by up to 30%, which lowers cost and increases hotel efficiency.

Woven fiber sheets

Nobody likes a scratchy sheet; however, that doesn’t mean you need to blow your housekeeping budget by purchasing a high thread count sheet set. Instead, focus on better materials – like organic, recycled cotton, which produces a softer sheet without a higher price tag.

  • The weave of the Martex Green sheet, according to Real Simple, affects exactly how it will feel to your guests. Its fibers are woven from recycled bottles, which results in a softer product and helps reduce over 71,666 cubic yards of landfill space.
  • A high thread count doesn’t necessarily mean a high-end sheet. Many suppliers weave lower quality thread into a higher count, sort of defeating the process. As a general rule, buy above a 200-thread count sheet. However, anything above 800 often doesn’t make a difference.
  • The production of Martex’s high quality sheets is entirely sustainable. The cotton is used with limited to no pesticide pollution, which equates to a more natural product and a healthier farmer. Plus, the recycled polyester makes up to 52% of all fiber used in textiles and reduces energy use by 84%, plus limits greenhouse gases by over 70%.

So, when you’re ready to reorder sheets and towels, consider a collection that blends softness and sustainability. For your guests, consider the comfort of Martex Green.

Take the plunge with pool towels that stay in service longer

March 30, 2016

If you work at or manage a property with a swimming pool, you know it’s important to plan ahead for high season and give your guests a simply swimming experience.

Beyond the “heavy lifting” of cleaning and maintenance, however, one of the extras guests most appreciate is the availability of nice, soft towels at poolside. If your property doesn’t currently provide them, consider doing so, if for no other reason than it’s a nice thing to do for your guests (of course, from a business standpoint, the use of pool towels can extend the life of your in-room towels as well). If your property already provides pool towels as an amenity, now is the time to take a look at your current inventory for fading and wear, and refresh your stock.

Whatever your situation, it pays to check out soft and ultra-durable Fibertone™ Pool Towels from 1888 Mills®. Fibertone towels are designed to last longer than the average pool towel and stay looking great year after year. The patented Fibertone color process produces vibrant color that will not fade in the sun, will not bleed or transfer onto other surfaces (including your expensive white linens), and is completely bleach-safe.

The Fibertone color process

The talented 1888 Mills craftsmen start with long-wearing polyester, which is solution dyed and extruded, then ring-spun with cotton fibers to produce a hearty blend of consistent color. The vibrant shades remain stable item after item, batch after batch, and year after year. The use of polyester also increases the towels’ durability, makes them virtually lint-free and allows faster drying when compared to all-cotton towels.

Weaving a Better World® with 1888 Mills

From humble beginnings, 1888 Mills has grown to be an industry leader in home and commercial textile manufacturing and a valued supplier partner to American Hotel Register Company. They strive to remember this country’s deep heritage of textile manufacturing while continuously searching for new ways to drive future innovation and global collaboration.

Advanced encasement technology that protects your investment

March 6, 2015

One of the biggest investments you’ve made in your business is no doubt the single most important part of any guest stay at your property. Of course, we’re talking beds. Most guest room sleep systems (as they are known today) cost hundreds to thousands of dollars, and that’s just the mattresses, box springs and pillows. Then you add a headboard, a frame, and quality linens and blankets, and the price continues to escalate.

As the quest for the best guest experience becomes ever more competitive, you need to make sure these assets are protected from daily wear and tear, stains, spills, bedbugs, allergens and more, so you can continue to offer your guests a great nights’ sleep and capture those great reviews online for years to come.

Waterproof CleanRest Pro® bedding encasements are Orkin® recommended and offer just the right amount of protection, with complete coverage for all types of mattresses, box springs and pillows.

Compared to other products on the market today, CleanRest Pro encasements provide these exclusive, value-added features and a comprehensive 15-year warranty…

MicronOne® patented technology promotes a healthy environment and keeps guests safe in four ways:

  • Protects your guests’ sleep by creating a clean barrier against the micro-toxins that build up over time in every mattress and pillow
  • Blocks all micro-toxins larger than one micron in size, like allergens, dust mites and their waste, mold spores, pollen, pet dander, and even bedbugs
  • Effectively prevents dust mite infestation for the lifetime of the product – achieve all of these health benefits without sacrificing comfort, breathability, durability or washability
  • Certified bedbug-bite proof

The Zip-N-Click™ zipper closure ensures bedbugs cannot enter or escape the encasement and is the only certified zipper closure that can be easily inspected from a distance, which saves your staff time when completing their safety checklists.

Why “Ready to Use” Really Means “Ready to Save”

May 24, 2013

ready to use linens

Would you like to save more?

Whether it’s time, cost, or resources, the one thing we all want to do is to save more.  Any opportunity where we can save without compromising is seized upon, and businesses across the globe are responding to their customers by offering them more ways to save.

The hospitality market is no different, and as travelers become more attentive in finding ways to save, so to have hotels.

A large expense for any hotel is linens.  The combined cost of just sheets and towels, for example, can become a large portion of a guest room’s budget, and it certainly pays to look for savings in these categories whenever possible.

“Ready to Use” has become a leading cost-saving initiative for many hotels.  Simply put, these are sheets and towels which can go directly from the box they arrive in to the bed or bath without having to go through an initial laundering.  So how does a hotel save by using these types of linens?  Ask yourself these questions:

  • How much time do housekeepers spend washing every sheet and towel that they unpack over the course of a year?
  • How much water, detergent, and electricity is used in laundering a fresh set of sheets or towels each time, and over the course of a year?

The average cost to wash a pound of laundry can range from $0.30 to $0.35 cents (which does not include the cost of labor or other costs such as keeping the lights on in the laundering facility, etc.).

Just by avoiding the initial laundering of a dozen “Ready to Use,” 17-lb. towels, you can save nearly $6.00!  Now multiply that across all of the sheets and towels that you unpack and launder in a year and the savings quicky grow.

“Ready to Use” sheets and towels can save you a great deal of money, and they’re eco-friendly, too, saving resources that would otherwise be consumed in an initial laundering.

Be sure to check out our wide selection of Ready to Use Towels or Ready to Use Sheets, and get ready to save more!

Top of Bed Options

September 20, 2012

top of bed options

The bed is one of the first things guests look at when entering a room. It has the potential to set the tone for their entire stay and tie the whole room together. And if your bed is stylish, comfortable and clean, it is sure to bring repeat business.

When was the last time your hotel updated its bedding? Do you use accents and pillows for a polished look? If you have to think about it too long, then it’s time to take a look at our Registry ® Triple Sheeting options.

Forget the bedspread and bed scarf. Triple sheeting is a simple technique many hotels use to save time and money. Traditional bedspreads can cost between $100-$250 per piece, and duvet covers cause housekeeping staff to spend up to three times longer making each bed. With triple sheeting, the bed scarf is printed directly onto the top sheet, creating a great looking, easy to care for bed.

By replacing a bedspread or duvet cover with one additional sheet, the triple sheeting technique can reduce overall operational costs. And triple-sheeting components can be laundered after each guest to ensure a sanitary environment. It’s the perfect technique to ensure cleanliness, style and efficiency.

American Hotel also offers multiple options for pillow shams, top sheets and accent pillows for that final polished, top-of-bed look and comfort. Available in multiple colors for every season and décor style, our bedding products guarantee plush, luxurious comfort and top quality.

Glancing at photos of the Best Hotel Beds, many of them are simple, elegant and use accents to bring the entire room together. Please browse our selection or consult one of our staff to achieve the exact look you’re hoping for.
